Review

The Man from Toronto 2022 is an American Action/Comedy movie. This movie depicts what happens when a big-time screw-up is mistaken for the ‘man from Toronto’, one of the world’s deadliest assassins.

The movie started in Yorktown with Teddy Jackson (Kevin Hart), a big-time screw-up trying to promote his sporting products on his channel – Teddyburn, which he repeatedly fails to do. One time, during his show, he used five garbage bags to make a ‘non-breathable plastic’. How do you use garbage bags to make ‘non-breathable plastic’? Now I understood why he fainted after the workout.

Teddy – the protagonist of the show tries to make up for his screw-ups to Lori (Jasmine Mathews), his wife by getting a cabin in Onancock, Virginia where he could celebrate his wife’s birthday. He drops her off in a spa and heads out to set up a surprise for his wife in the cabin but he ends up visiting a cabin at a different location where the ‘man from Toronto’ was supposed to be to extract information from a captive Mr. Coughlin. Due to this coincidence, he was mistaken for the ‘man from Toronto’. Will he be able to do all that is requested of the man from Toronto? What happens when the actual man from Toronto meets with Teddy? Will he get back to his wife in time to celebrate her birthday? All these questions would only be answered if you watched the movie.

Toronto (Woody Harrelson), whose character was the Bad Guy was as well thrilling. From his accent to his facial expressions.

I liked the fact that the movie was very funny and entertaining. The jokes were very relatable too. The songs used in the movie were great.  If you’re feeling sad or tired after a long boring day, this is a perfect movie to cheer you up and make you laugh. Trust me!

‘It’s all the Wow, without the ow!’

Despite all the fun in the movie, the plot and the acting were not so great. The movie is stale, and also very predictable. This movie brings nothing new to the genre, just like so many other action/comedy movies acted by Kevin (Ride Along, Central Intelligence) where he is just a talker with more ego than ability.

The movie also had some issues with the editing. In one instance, teddy leaves Debora on the road to find Lori. Debora is surprisingly seen on the track in another scene and gets hit by a train. How did that happen? Did the car move into the rail track by itself? Did someone drive it to the front of the train? We will never know.

The action part was baseless and unrealistic. The fighting and killing left me questioning a lot of things… Like, how do you kill someone with just one punch? For someone who is into Action movies, this might discourage you.

Some lessons could be learned from this movie: one should be able to follow through with plans and see it to the very end to achieve goals – not all talk and no show, one must be courageous to overcome fear to be great in life.

Comedy are meant to be predictable. What’s funny about them is the fact that we the audience know what’s going to happen and the characters still do it but in a lively and funny manner.

And also, Kevin Hart main forte is just to be the talker and egocentric individual in all his movies, who eventually learns a valuable lesson. So that makes him predictable, but at the same time , it’s what makes us, the audience love him .

I love how you relate with the audience in your review, the rhetorical questions and inside jokes, it’s fresh and weird, but a great pitcher, keep it up.

Also, we get it, teddy is big time screw up, after the first time you said it, you could have used another phrase hinting to it or another word entirely slightly relating to the fact that he’s a screw up.

Great job guys, keep up the good work. I’m rooting for you . I’m going to download this movie now. Can’t believe I haven’t seen it.

I believe at one point in our lives or the other, we Teddy things. Let’s face it.
This makes me feel less sad when I screw things up, knowing there is someone better at doing it 🀣🀣🀣
