INTRODUCTION.

James Gunn, the director of the thrilling and humorous superhero film, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” initially faced a shocking setback when Marvel fired him. The reason behind his dismissal was the resurfacing of old tweets in which he touched upon controversial subjects like rape and pedophilia. However, thanks to extensive support from the film crew and various external influences, Marvel eventually reconsidered their decision and rehired Gunn to lead the project once again.

In November, Gunn himself confirmed that the script for “Vol. 3” had been completed, and much to the delight of fans, he assured them that his original ideas had remained largely intact despite the production challenges that arose along the way. This news brought a sense of relief, assuring audiences that they can still anticipate an incredible continuation of the beloved series.

“Vol. 3” is the highly anticipated chapter of the sensational Guardians of the Galaxy film trilogy. Continuing the thrilling adventures that began with the blockbuster hits “Guardians of the Galaxy” in 2014 and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” in 2017, this action-packed spectacle stars an all-star cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Will Poulter, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Linda Cardellini, Nathan Fillion, and Sylvester Stallone.

Prepare to be blown away by the grandeur of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”! With a whopping budget of $250 million, this spectacular film hit the screens on May 5th, 2023, delivering an unforgettable cinematic experience. Clocking in at a thrilling 2 hour 30 minutes, this action-packed adventure promises non-stop excitement from start to finish.

SYNOPSIS.

In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits is looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them – Disney Movies.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 FILM REVIEW.

You can check out our preview on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

It all begins with Rocket, a genetically engineered raccoon, making his way towards Chris Pratt who is in a state of deep emotional turmoil. He is struggling with a sense of loss and despair after encountering a variant of his former lover, Gamora, who doesn’t share the same affection for him as the older version did. Rocket gathers the team and they head towards KnowWhere, but their journey is abruptly interrupted by an attack from Adam Warlock, a powerful artificial being.

The battle is intense, and Adam demonstrates his immense strength by mercilessly beating the Guardians. Drax is left lying on the ground, after taking a barrage of punches. Just when it seems like all hope is lost, Nebula steps up to the plate. She sneaks up behind Adam, and with a swift turn of her arm, transforms it into a glowing sword. She then pierces the sword straight through Adam’s heart, with his last words before falling to the floor being “That hurt”.

Adam is forced to flee, leaving the outfits damaged; especially Rocket who is on the verge of losing his life. Passing through pain, he recalls the time when he was little, during his experiment by a scientist who wanted to turn him into anthropomorphic specie. Not just Rocket but also his friends the otter Lylla, and the walrus. When Rocket the Raccoon and The High Evolutionary, discovered that the Raccoon was very smart. He takes a very absurd decision to take out Rocket’s brain but Rocket steals his spaceship and flees.

In their quest to bring Rocket back from the brink, the Guardians find themselves thrust into a harsh reality. With Gamora, a skilled warrior from another team, lending a hand, they infiltrate the secretive Orgocorp. However, their mission takes an unexpected turn when they realize that something is missing from Rocket’s file. Now, united as one, the Guardians and Gamora from the Ravengers must overcome a series of daunting challenges, including the formidable creator and his relentless creations. Saving Rocket won’t come easy, but their unwavering determination and resilience will be put to the ultimate test.

You might not know this but I’m a huge fan of the Guardian of the Galaxy Franchise. I’ve followed it right from its first release and it hasn’t for once disappointed. James Gunn once again proved to be a master director despite the initial setback. Each main character in this film had something unique they contributed to this film to make it a success. They all complimented each other which was great.

My favorite character is Rocket who was voiced by Bradley Cooper. He was not always seen in the film as he was struggling for his life but he was the central character. James Gunn even said that Rocket represented him as a person. Another character who truly captured my heart was Drax. Among the ensemble, he stood out as the embodiment of humor. What added an intriguing layer to his comedic essence was the stark contrast between his imposing physicality and his rather slow understanding of things. In simpler terms, his character exuded obliviousness. Mantis even pointed this out to him but later erased that from his memory. This makes him a captivating source of laughter throughout the film.

Immersed in a symphony of masterfully crafted sounds and scores, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 captivated me with its seamless integration of audio and visuals, elevating the message and humor it sought to convey. The harmonious marriage between the music and the narrative lent an enchanting depth to the experience, drawing me further into its mesmerizing world.

Moreover, the animation, the visual effect, the special effect, and the cinematography pushed the boundaries of imagination, leaving me awestruck by their breathtaking artistry. This film shows firsthand the creativity of the director and his team.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to IMDB – There were widespread rumors that Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Ragnarok (2017), would step in to replace James Gunn temporarily after the latter’s dismissal from the project. However, Waititi firmly denied any involvement, emphasizing that he respected Gunn’s work and saw the films as Gunn’s creative domain. In his own words, Waititi explained, “Those are James’ films. It would be like intruding into someone’s home and declaring yourself the new parent, insisting on making peanut butter sandwiches a different way. It just feels awkward.”

CONCLUSION.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 left an indelible mark on me. Amidst the emotional moments that tugged at my heartstrings, I discovered unexpected humor, such as the hilarity of Groot’s head scuttling across the floor like a crab after a fierce battle with Adam. Laughter echoed through the cinema, a unifying thread that seemed to resonate with everyone present, highlighting the film’s ability to captivate and entertain.

The action scenes proved to be nothing short of awe-inspiring, leaving me craving more adventures in this franchise’s universe. While I yearn for its continuation, a bittersweet realization lingers, as if the end may be drawing near. Yet, a glimmer of hope remains, perhaps hinting at one final chapter or an epilogue before bidding farewell to this beloved saga.

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, strong language, suggestive/drug references and thematic elements. You can watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in select cinemas near you.
