THE GENTLEMEN SERIES: THE RETURN TO THE WORLD OF BRITISH GRIT
Ladies and Gentlemen, hold onto your hats because Guy Ritchie’s much-loved Netflix series “The Gentlemen” is officially making a comeback for a second season!
If you’re like me—a big fan of Ritchie’s signature blend of British swagger, sharp wit, and gritty criminal underworlds—you’ve probably already binged the first season. And, just like me, you’re probably counting down the days until Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass grace our screens once more.
A WORLD WE KNOW AND LOVE
First things first, let’s take a moment to acknowledge just how fantastic the 2019 film “The Gentlemen” was. For me, it’s one of my all-time favorite British movies.
The film was classic Ritchie: a stylish, fast-paced caper full of memorable characters, clever dialogue, twists, turns, etc.
It starred heavyweights like Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, and Jeremy Strong, all delivering performances that were nothing short of iconic.
So, when I heard that a TV series set in the same universe was in the works, I was immediately on board.
The series does not directly follow the film’s characters but instead introduces us to a new set of players in this criminally chaotic world.
Theo James stars as Eddie Horniman, a British soldier who unexpectedly inherits his family’s estate after his father’s death. What Eddie doesn’t realize is that the estate is deeply entangled in a massive cannabis empire run by Susie Glass (played brilliantly by Kaya Scodelario) and her incarcerated father.
The first season was filled with action, betrayal, and dark humor. It was fascinating to watch Eddie move through the dangerous waters of British aristocracy and the drug trade.
His transformation from a naive soldier to a cunning criminal mastermind was both gripping and surprisingly relatable.
Ritchie’s direction and writing, alongside co-writer Matthew Read, kept the story tight, thrilling, and endlessly entertaining.
The show also managed to capture that distinct “Ritchie-ness”—a blend of slick visual storytelling, razor-sharp dialogue, and an ever-present sense of danger lurking around every corner.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN SEASON 2
So, what’s in store for us in Season 2? Well, details are still a bit scarce, but we do know that Theo James and Kaya Scodelario will be reprising their roles as Eddie and Susie.
The dynamic between these two was one of the highlights of the first season, and I’m thrilled to see it continue.

James brings a perfect mix of vulnerability and grit to Eddie, while Scodelario’s Susie is as dangerous as she is captivating.
Watching these two characters play off each other is like watching a high-stakes game of chess—except, you know, with more guns and drugs involved.
Ritchie will once again be at the helm as both writer and director, which is music to my ears. There’s something uniquely satisfying about his ability to craft stories that are as clever as they are chaotic.
He’s the master of creating worlds where the lines between right and wrong are as blurred as the smoky London streets his characters inhabit.
Season 2 promises to go even deeper into this murky world, exploring the consequences of Eddie’s newfound power and his alliance with Susie.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the first season was the cast of colorful characters.
From Eddie’s dysfunctional family to the various gangsters and criminals they encounter, the show was filled with memorable personalities.
I’m hoping we’ll see even more of these characters in Season 2, along with some new faces to shake things up. And, of course, I’m excited to see Daniel Ings return as Eddie’s brother, Freddy.
Ings brought a lot of humor and heart to the role, and I’m curious to see where Freddy’s story goes next.
A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES
The first season left us with plenty of questions and tantalizing possibilities. Will Eddie fully embrace his role as a criminal kingpin? How will his partnership with Susie evolve now that they’re both co-owners of a multi-billion-pound drug empire?
And what about the mysterious relationship brewing behind bars between Bobby (Winstone) and Stanley Johnston? These unanswered questions are what make the wait for Season 2 so excruciatingly exciting.
One of the things I loved most about the first season was how it balanced the realism of the criminal underworld with moments of dark humor and absurdity.
“The Gentlemen” never took itself too seriously. It was a show that knew how to have fun while still delivering on the thrills. I do not doubt that Season 2 will continue in this vein, providing us with more of the same offbeat charm and high-octane action.
THE LEGACY OF “THE GENTLEMEN”
Ritchie has created something special with this series. “The Gentlemen” is more than just a spinoff of a beloved film—it’s a world unto itself, rich with possibilities for future stories.
There’s already talk of expanding this universe even further, possibly with more seasons or even another film. The idea of a “Guy Ritchie world” is an exciting one, and I can’t wait to see where he takes us next.
For now, though, I’m content to eagerly await the return of Eddie, Susie, and the rest of the gang in Season 2.
If the first season was any indication, we’re in for one heck of a ride.
