Review
I just recently saw the movie ‘the outfit’ and I am very satisfied with the movie. The fact the movie took place in a Cutter’s shop in Chicago in 1956 takes us back to how business was conducted in the nineties; an amazing concept indeed!
‘The Outfit’ was released in the United States on March 18, 2022, by Focus Features, American Film Production and Distribution Company owned by Comcast.
This movie has what it takes to be classified as a crime drama or as a mystery movie but it’ll be unfair to classify it as just crime drama or mystery so, I would describe it as a crime drama/mystery-thriller movie.
The movie Director (Graham Moore) did an excellent job and selected the perfect crew members inclusive; L Burling (Mark Rylance), Richie Boyle (Dylan O’Brien), Francis (Johnny Flynn), Roy Boyle (Simon Russell Beale), and Mable Sheun (Zoey Deutsch).
The movie starts as calm with L.Burling (Mark Rylance) nicknamed English, describing a suit. “To the Naked Eye, a suit appears to consist of two parts…” But as you’ll see later on in the movie, there are a whole lot more in the process of making a ‘suit’. Before you conclude, this movie isn’t really about suits.
English (Mark Rylance) played such an interesting and intelligent role in this movie.
Richie Boyle (Dylan O’Brien) and Francis (Johnny Flynn) were introduced next. They both worked for Roy Boyle (Simon Russell Beale) who was a gang leader trying to take over from the ‘La Fontaines’. Roy trusted Francis (Johnny Flynn) to go about his business because as stated in the movie, Francis took six ‘marbles’ for Roy Boyle (Simon Russell Beale), Richie’s Father. The love and trust Roy has for Francis make Richie insecure. Will this loyalty be tested when issues of trust, insecurities, fear, or suspicion of a ‘rat’ arise…and would they let the issues get tied up with the business? One can only watch to find out!
Mable Sheun (Zoey Deutch), a receptionist for Mr. L. Burling (Mark Rylance). Mabel wanted something better from life for herself. She wanted to go to places like London, and Paris. Simply put, Mabel just wanted to experience a good life but did not have enough money for such pleasure so she was willing to do almost anything to get what she wanted.
The movie is filled with crazy plot twists which makes the movie much more interesting, not knowing what is going to happen next. Isn’t that what we all like? Less predictable movies.
Great life lessons can be learned in this movie.
Overall, this is a good movie to watch and I highly recommend it if you are a Thriller/Crime Drama/Mystery movie lover, because it will keep you on your toes and hold you in suspense as the truth reveals itself.
I liked the choice and the use of words. The comedy was also fantastic. Jokes that were told were good. Just like when English told Francis that he could not lie, Francis replied ‘you don’t know how to say one thing when you mean something else? I thought you were English’. I also liked the suspense, the twist, and almost everything about the movie. Though I would have loved it if they replaced some beats with some old-time songs, and if they added a bit more tension to the movie.
The movie setting was perfect and I would watch this movie again.
Wow
