Universal Pictures just dropped an atom bomb of an announcement that will make lovers of Jurassic World franchise scream. The official title of the next installment in the Jurassic World franchise is Jurassic World Rebirth.
The seventh outing, coming July 2, 2025, promises a thrilling new birth for the dino saga that first captured imaginations 31 years ago with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park.
AN IMPRESSIVE CAST LIST AND CREATIVE TEAM
Star-studded casting, centering Jurassic World Rebirth, is headlined with Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali as the major actors, combined with star largesse promising to breathe new life into the franchise.
Scarlett Johansson, having given an electric performance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series of films, plays Zora Bennett, a leader of elite espionage operations tasked with a deadly mission. Ali is a two-time Academy Award winner who will be playing Duncan Kincaid, the trusted right-hand man to Zora, while Bailey stars as Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist whose discipline will become rather pertinent as the action develops.
At the helm behind the camera is Gareth Edwards, the filmmaker for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Creator. Edwards’ experience with big-budget, visually excellent films would then ensure he was the right man for the job to push through with the next stage of the Jurassic series.
And it gets even better as the screenplay is no less written than by David Koepp himself, author of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
For all fans, it is really exciting because a return of Koepp does indeed point toward an expansion of the universe he helped create.
THE PLOT: A NEW ERA IN DINOSAUR ADVENTURE
Set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion which fans have said they didn’t like, Jurassic World Rebirth explores a world where the planet’s ecology has shifted, rendering it largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The few remaining dinosaurs have retreated to isolated equatorial environments that somewhat emulate the climates to which they were accustomed.
Within these pockets of prehistoric life, three dinosaur species hold the key to a revolutionary drug with the potential to bring life-saving benefits to humanity.
Zora Bennett, played by Johansson, is the center of the action. A covert ops expert with an interesting past, she gets hired to lead a mission of extracting DNA from these creatures. The stakes are higher than ever since the survival of millions may hinge on the success of this expedition.
By her side is Duncan Kincaid, played by Ali, a man of unflinching loyalty and tact whose position makes him an irreplaceable associate. Adding a scientific layer is Dr. Henry Loomis, played by Bailey, although to what degree his motives come into line with those set forth by the mission’s purpose is to be determined.
As the team embarks on their perilous journey, they cross paths with a civilian family whose boating expedition has gone wrong. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the stranded family, with Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda rounding out the group. The accidental meeting of the group leads to an adventure on an unexplored island.
NEW CHARACTERS AND INTRIGUING DYNAMICS
The main trio aside, Jurassic World Rebirth features new characters who would bring excitement to the story. Rupert Friend from Homeland plays the role of Martin Krebs representative of the pharmaceutical conglomerate funding the expedition. His character’s corporate interests could clash with the ethical concerns of the team, setting up potential conflicts that might make the story even tenser and more dramatic.
The cast is equally impressive, with the likes of Philippine Velge from Station Eleven, BMF’s Béchir Sylvain, and Deadpool’s Ed Skrein rounding out the ensemble. Each will no doubt bring something unique to the table as the team navigates everything from the ferocious dinosaurs to the treacherous landscape and surprising human threats.
BEHIND THE SCENES: PRODUCTION AND LEGACY
Producers like Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, veterans of the Jurassic series, would be attached to produce the film Jurassic World Rebirth to ensure it lives up to the standards created by its predecessors. Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg is also returning as an executive producer, joined by Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer, adding gravitas to the project.
Jurassic World Rebirth is a big evolution of the franchise. The previous three movies in the trilogy, starting with Jurassic World, followed by Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, and finally Jurassic World Dominion, all broke box office records with more than $3 billion in total worldwide box office collections. With Rebirth, the filmmakers want to build on that achievement by introducing a new era in storytelling that will move beyond the legacy characters of the original Jurassic Park films.

NEW FRANCHISE BEGINNING
What sets Jurassic World Rebirth apart from its predecessors is the boldness with which the film expands the Jurassic universe. The title itself, “Rebirth,” does insinuate a renewal or some transformation within the franchise.
Focusing on new characters and a fresh storyline, the movie indeed can refreshment the series and attract a new generation of fans, while still respecting the heritage launched by Michael Crichton’s original novel and Spielberg’s ground-breaking 1993 adaptation.
Closer to release, anticipation for Jurassic World Rebirth will surely peak. With its powerhouse cast, direction, and plot that promises to satisfy intense action interlaced with deeper themes, this movie is surely bound to be one of the largest cinematic events of 2025.
