THE LITTLE MERMAID FILM REVIEW.
A meeting took place in the Water Kingdom, led by King Triton, ruler of the Merpeople of Atlantica. The purpose of the meeting was for his seven daughters, who were in charge of the seven seas, to gather together. However, one of the daughters, Ariel, the little mermaid, was missing because she was exploring other parts of the sea.
King Triton noticed Ariel’s absence and called out to Sebastian, a small crab who was hiding behind him. Sebastian crawled out and faced the king’s attention. The king stopped the little crab in his tracks and expressed his disappointment, saying, “You were supposed to ensure that Ariel was here.”
Sebastian, feeling the pressure under the king’s index finger, replied, “I tried, but that kid? She’s impossible.” He struggled to explain himself while trying to bear the weight of the king’s finger.
Sebastian was given the task of finding Ariel, and after some searching, he finally located her. He reminded her about the meeting she had missed, and in a hurry, Ariel rushed back to her father, fearing his disappointment. As expected, the king scolded her for her absence.
Just when it seemed like Ariel had learned her lesson and changed her ways, there was a spectacular explosion of fireworks on the surface of the sea. Ariel couldn’t resist her curiosity and went to see what was happening. The fireworks were part of a celebration for Prince Eric and his crew.
Suddenly, a storm erupted, causing the ship to break apart. Everyone on board hurried to the lifeboats, but Prince Eric stayed behind to rescue a dog still on the ship.
After Prince Eric saves the dog and attempts to return to his island, he tragically drowns. However, Ariel comes to his rescue and saves him from drowning. Once they reach the shore, he returns to his island where he is sternly warned never to go back to the sea or pursue “imaginary” girls. Despite the warning, Prince Eric refuses to listen because he is desperate to find the girl who saved his life.
Meanwhile, King Triton grows suspicious about Ariel’s prolonged absence. He confronts Sebastian, who reveals everything about Ariel saving the prince. The king becomes furious and storms out to confront Ariel. He tells her about what the humans did to her mother, but Ariel refuses to listen.
Frustrated and upset, King Triton destroys all the precious human items Ariel had collected from the shipwreck. Ariel is heartbroken and cries over the loss of her cherished possessions. In her moment of sadness, she unexpectedly hears the voice of Ursula, the sea witch, speaking to her through an eel. Ursula offers Ariel help and convinces her to come with her.
Ariel decides to take a chance and goes with Ursula to the sea witch’s realm. There, Ursula persuades Ariel to give up her beautiful voice in exchange for becoming a human and having the opportunity to meet the prince. Despite the risks involved, Ariel agrees to the deal, and her wish is granted. She transforms and becomes a human.
However, there’s a catch. Ariel must receive a true love kiss from the prince before sunset on the third day to remain human permanently. The question remains: Will Ariel be able to accomplish this task and find the love she seeks?
“The Little Mermaid” is an incredibly enjoyable movie with a delightful cast of characters who truly shine in their roles. Halle Bailey, who portrayed Ariel, and Jonah Hauer-King, who played Prince Eric, both delivered exceptional performances as the main characters of the film. They brought their characters to life with great skill and talent.
Throughout the movie, the chemistry between Ariel and Prince Eric developed beautifully. Their on-screen connection grew stronger as the story unfolded, and it was a pleasure to witness. They complemented each other’s energy, and it was evident on screen how well they worked together.
Not only did Bailey and Hauer-King excel in their performances, but they also portrayed the innocence and emotional depth of their characters convincingly. The expressions on their faces conveyed a range of emotions, drawing the audience into their journey.
Overall, the performances of Halle Bailey as Ariel and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric were truly fantastic, adding an extra layer of magic to the film. Their talents, chemistry, and the genuine emotions they brought to their roles made “The Little Mermaid” an even more enjoyable and captivating experience.
One of the greatest strengths of this film is its exceptional soundtrack. The songs are incredibly catchy, memorable, and intriguing to listen to. They leave a lasting impression, and I enjoyed them immensely. The music might even get you up and dancing while watching the film.
Among the songs, my personal favorite was “Kiss the Girl.” It had a captivating charm that drew me in and added a delightful touch to the movie.
The animation, special effects, and costumes used in the film were generally well done. However, I must admit that there was something about the portrayal of the mermaids and sea creatures that didn’t quite feel authentic. It could be the way they moved or how their costumes fit, but there was a slight sense of artificiality that was noticeable. It didn’t ruin the overall experience, but it was something that I couldn’t help but notice.
Nevertheless, despite this minor issue, the film still managed to captivate and entertain with its incredible songs, animation, and overall charm. It’s an enjoyable experience that will have you tapping your feet and singing along to the wonderful music.
CONCLUSION.
The Little Mermaid is a fantastical and enjoyable adventure film that families can appreciate. It features a delightful collection of great songs. While it may have a few flaws, The Little Mermaid still manages to captivate audiences, leaving them singing, smiling, and enchanted by its magical world. It is worth noting that the film is rated PG due to its action, peril, and some mildly scary images.
