Sony Pictures Animation, the production company responsible for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse also helmed the creation of its sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The development of this follow-up film began even prior to the release of Into the Spider-Verse. Initially, Joaquim Dos Santos was appointed as the director, and later, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson joined the team of directors. It features Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, and Issa Rae as casts.
In this film, Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man™: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverse’s very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must set out on his own to save those he loves most.
The trailer alone evokes a thrilling sensation, and the animation itself is truly exceptional. So, picture this: After working on the animation for “The Mitchells vs. the Machines” Lord and Miller decided to run wild with the new animation tool. They decided to use these tools to create not just one, not two, but six different animation styles in “Across the Spider-verse”. I mean, talk about ambition! It was as if they said to themselves, “Let’s blow the audience’s minds every time the characters step into a new environment!”
Imagine sitting in the theater, munching on popcorn, and suddenly the characters in the movie start traveling to different places. And with each new setting, boom! The animation style changes completely. It’s like going from crayon drawings to 3D CGI to stop-motion animation in the blink of an eye.
I’m eagerly anticipating the release of this sequel. Guyyyyyys! Mark your calendars for June 2nd, 2023, when it will hit theaters. Make sure to watch it and share your thoughts with me.
