To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in an ideal place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken – Barbie.
Barbie, a highly anticipated movie that hasn’t hit theaters yet, is already creating a buzz as it’s on everyone’s lips. This excitement is the immense love people have for the Barbie animation. Even my sisters were huge fans of the animated series and couldn’t get enough of it, eagerly waiting for any opportunity to watch it.
Greta Gerwig, the acclaimed writer and director known for her films “Little Women” and “Lady Bird,” is the helm of the highly anticipated live-action Barbie movie. Collaborating with her is Noah Baumbach, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter behind notable films like “Marriage Story” and “The Squid and the Whale.” The film stars Margot Robbie, recognized for her roles in “Bombshell” and “I, Tonya,” as Barbie, and the talented Ryan Gosling, known for his performances in “La La Land” and “Half Nelson,” as Ken. Joining them are a stellar cast, including America Ferrera from “End of Watch” and the “How to Train Your Dragon” series, Kate McKinnon from “Bombshell” and “Yesterday,” Michael Cera from “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Juno,” Ariana Greenblatt from “Avengers: Infinity War” and “65,” Issa Rae from “The Photograph” and “Insecure,” and Rhea Perlman from “I’ll See You in My Dreams” and “Matilda,” among others.
“Barbie” promises to offer a captivating animation that will dazzle audiences with its stunning visuals and impressive special effects. The film also promises remarkable chemistry between the characters, drawing viewers into their world. The soul-touching sound and scores will add more emotion to the storytelling. Produced by Heyday Films, LuckyChap Entertainment, and Mattel and presented by Warner Bros. Pictures, “Barbie” is set to be a cinematic treat. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the movie worldwide and exclusively hit theaters nationwide on July 21, 2023, with an international release starting on July 19, 2023.
