July was a treasure chest of movies. No matter if you like action, horror stories, or dramas, there is something for everyone.
Here’s our Top 5 Movies for July, 2024.
DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE
This movie is exactly what you think it is—an unabashed celebration of everything fans love about these two iconic characters. Deadpool’s peaceful existence is disrupted when the Time Variance Authority (TVA) pulls him into their world to help safeguard the multiverse.
Deadpool, with his humor, is the last person you’d expect to be a guardian of the multiverse, the way he’s just so unserious and how he jokes around.
His reluctant partnership with Wolverine, who’s gruff, no-nonsense, and indestructible, creates a duo that’s both hysterical and heart-melting.
The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is electric, as they effortlessly bounce off each other’s contrasting styles.
Deadpool’s snarky comments and pop culture references, combined with Wolverine’s dry humor and brute force, result in a “cool” clash of personalities.
Deadpool And Wolverine doesn’t just rely on laughs, though—it also moves into themes of friendship, redemption, and the unexpected bonds that form when two unlikely heroes are thrown together.
FLY ME TO THE MOON
“Fly Me to the Moon” joins romance and history, which takes us back to the excitement of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum are the characters brought together to help us with this story.
Johansson’s character, Kelly Jones, a marketing expert, gives us a fresh and humorous perspective on the serious world of space exploration.
Watching her clash with Tatum’s stoic launch director, Cole Davis, is like watching a fireworks display.
The movie smartly creates its romantic plot with the monumental task of landing a man on the moon. It’s not just about love; it’s about the triumphs and tribulations that come with achieving the impossible.
LONGLEGS
“Longlegs” is a thrilling movie that leaves you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It stars the ever-dedicated FBI agent, whose relentless pursuit of a serial killer leads her down a rabbit hole of occult mysteries.
This film is both horrifying and suspenseful, and it’s not just about catching a killer—it’s about deciphering a complex web of clues that feel like they’re straight out of a dark, twisted fairy tale.
What makes “Longlegs” stand out is its ability to mix the psychological with the supernatural.
Each clue the FBI agent uncovers is like a breadcrumb leading deeper into the forest of the unknown.
The cinematography adds an eerie, almost dreamlike quality to these moments, making you question what’s real and what’s part of the occult.
The serial killer, who goes by the chilling moniker Longlegs, is a master of psychological terror.
His crimes are not just murders—they’re ritualistic, each one a piece of a larger, terrifying puzzle.
Watching the FBI agent piece together these clues is both fascinating and nerve-wracking. You can’t help but root for her as she moves closer and closer to the occult, risking her sanity in the process.
The film does an incredible job of creating a sense of dread that lingers long even after the credits roll. The soundtrack, filled with haunting melodies, and the expert use of shadows and light, make every scene intense.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” is the epitome of old-school charm meeting modern-day flair.
Eddie Murphy, reprising his iconic role as Detective Axel Foley. This time, it’s not just about the flashy cars and sunny Beverly Hills surroundings—it’s personal. When Foley’s daughter’s life is on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Taylour Paige, playing Foley’s fierce and clever daughter, adds a new view to the story. Their father-daughter drama is tense, heartwarming, and hilarious, with Paige holding her own against Murphy’s larger-than-life persona.
The addition of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the new partner is a stroke of genius. Gordon-Levitt’s character brings a balance of seriousness and charm, fitting perfectly into the intense world of Beverly Hills policing.
But what makes this movie sing is the reunion of old friends Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton). Their chemistry with Murphy is great.
The plot is classic action-comedy: a high-stakes conspiracy that requires brains, brawn, and humor to unravel. The action sequences are thrilling, and the comedic timing is impeccable.
TWISTERS
“Twisters” is the kind of movie that sweeps you off your feet and whirls you around in a tornado of excitement, and nostalgia.
Daisy Edgar-Jones, as Kate Cooper, anchors the film with her performance.
Haunted by a tragic encounter during her college days, Kate has traded the open skies for the safety of a New York City office, studying storm patterns from a safe distance. But when her old friend Javi, played by Anthony Ramos, lures her back to the plains to test a groundbreaking new tracking system, the stage is set for a reunion with Mother Nature’s wildest phenomena.
Glen Powell is Tyler Owens, the passionate storm chaser.
Powell’s Tyler is the perfect foil to Edgar-Jones’ Kate; where she is cautious and methodical, he is reckless and exuberant.
The chemistry between the leads is electric, sparking just as much tension as needed.
“Twisters” manages to capture the awe and terror of nature’s most violent displays while also paying homage to the classic storm-chasing films of the past.
